Apple is in the middle of a three-year plan to "reinvent" the look and feel of the iPhone, according to Bloomberg's Mark Gurman. This ambitious project is aimed at significantly changing the design of the iconic device, which could culminate in a completely revamped iPhone by 2023.
Apple's Three-Year Plan
Gurman's report indicates that Apple is exploring various approaches to refresh the iPhone's appearance and functionality. The tech giant is said to be working on reducing the size of the notch at the top of the iPhone's display, a design element that has remained relatively unchanged since its introduction with the iPhone X in 2017.
Furthermore, Gurman suggests that Apple is experimenting with in-display fingerprint technology as an additional or alternative biometric security feature to Face ID.
New iPhone Design Elements
One of the key aspects of this three-year plan is the introduction of a new design language for the iPhone. Apple is reportedly considering a design that incorporates flat edges similar to the current iPad Pro and iPhone 12 models.
This design change could mark a departure from the curved edges that have been a hallmark of recent iPhone models, harking back to the aesthetics of earlier models like the iPhone 4 and iPhone 5.
Enhanced Camera Capabilities
In addition to revamping the device's appearance, Apple is also focusing on improving the iPhone's camera capabilities. Gurman's sources indicate that the company is working on new technologies that could enhance low-light photography and improve video recording quality.
These camera enhancements could make the iPhone an even more formidable competitor in the smartphone photography and videography space.
Display Upgrades
Apple is rumored to be exploring the possibility of bringing ProMotion display technology to the iPhone. ProMotion, currently featured on the iPad Pro models, allows for a higher refresh rate, resulting in smoother scrolling and more responsive interactions.
Should Apple successfully implement ProMotion on the iPhone, users can expect a noticeable improvement in display quality and responsiveness.
Battery Life and performance
