Donna Summer was an American singer-songwriter known as the "Queen of Disco." Born on December 31, 1948, in Boston, Massachusetts, Summer's musical talents took her all the way to fame and success in the music industry.
Summer's career took off in the mid-1970s with hits like "Love to Love You Baby," "I Feel Love," and "Last Dance." Her powerful vocals and ability to get people on their feet made her a favorite among disco lovers and music enthusiasts alike.
However, despite her success, Summer faced a devastating setback in 1994 when she was diagnosed with lung cancer. She attributed the diagnosis to the 9/11 attacks. Summer believed that the dust and smoke from the World Trade Center collapse during the 9/11 attacks had caused her cancer.
Summer refused to let the cancer diagnosis stop her. She continued to perform and record music, even undergoing treatment while on tour. In 2008, she released her final album, Crayons, which received positive reviews.
