The Dallas Stars are certainly no strangers to adversity, having faced a tough bracket on their journey to the 2020 Stanley Cup Finals. But one issue that the team needs to address if they are to go all the way is their performance in overtime games.

Peter DeBoer, head coach of the Vegas Golden Knights, an opponent of the Stars in the Western Conference Finals, highlighted this issue after their Game 1 loss on Friday, stating that the Stars must "find a way to win overtime games in the Stanley Cup Playoffs."

This isn't to say that the Stars have been terrible in overtime situations. In fact, they've won three of their five games that have gone past regulation thus far in the playoffs. However, the real concern is their inability to close out games when they have the lead and the chance to put their opponents away.

In Game 3 of their series against the Golden Knights, for example, the Stars were up 2-0 with just over 10 minutes remaining in regulation. Yet, they let Vegas back in the game, with the Golden Knights netting two goals to force overtime, ultimately winning the game.

This inability to close out games can be a result of a variety of factors. Nerves and fatigue
