Ray Lewis III is a former American football player who has had an impressive college football career playing for three different universities. Born on December 15, 1995, in Longwood, Florida, Ray Lewis III inherited his athletic abilities from his father, Ray Lewis Jr., who was a Hall of Fame linebacker for the Baltimore Ravens.
After graduating from Lake Mary Prep School in Florida, Lewis III began his college football career at the University of Miami in 2013. He played as a backup running back and kickoff returner during his freshman year. The following year, he was expected to have a larger role in the Hurricanes team. However, he suffered a serious injury early in the season that ended his year prematurely.
In 2015, Ray Lewis III made a transfer to Coastal Carolina University in Conway, South Carolina, where he continued his college career. He played in ten games for the Chanticleers that season, rushing for 129 yards and a touchdown while also returning six kickoffs for 156 yards.
Lewis III then transferred again before the 2016 season, this time to Virginia Union University in Richmond, Virginia. He made an impact right away in his new team, rushing for 1,026 yards and 10 touchdowns in his first season for the Panthers. He was named to the All-CIAA Second Team that year.
Lewis III continued to make strides in his senior year, rushing for 1,470 yards and 14 touchdowns in 2017. He was once again named to the All-CIAA Second Team, as well as the All-Region Team.
Although he didn't make it to the NFL, Ray Lewis III has had a successful college football career, playing for three different universities and making an impact on each team he played for. His versatility as a running back and a kick returner proved to be valuable to his teams, and he was recognized for his skills with multiple honors.
