Juventus is one of the most successful and renowned football clubs in the world. However, the club was recently hit with a major setback after being docked 10 points for the current Serie A season by an Italian soccer court. The ruling was made in a case centered on the club's transfer dealings.
The Italian Football Federation (FIGC) announced the decision to dock Juventus points on Monday. The ruling is a result of the club's involvement in a transfer which took place between Boca Juniors and Genoa in 2019.
Juventus, who were not directly involved in the transfer, are said to have influenced the deal by influencing Genoa to purchase the player before immediately sending him to Boca Juniors. The court ruling found that this constituted a violation of the rules and regulations governing the transfer of players. Juventus were therefore punished with a 10-point deduction from their current Serie A season.
The club immediately released a statement denouncing the decision and has vowed to appeal the ruling. The statement said that "Juventus Football Club remains convinced of the fairness of its conduct and will take all appropriate legal remedies to protect its rights."
Despite the setback, Juventus remains a formidable force in Italian football. The club has won the Serie A title a record
