Every June, the United States celebrates Pride Month, marking the anniversary of the Stonewall Uprising, when police raided a gay bar in New York City and sparked a movement that changed the course of history. Pride Month is a time to celebrate and honor the LGBTQ+ community and to recognize the progress that has been made in advancing LGBTQ+ rights, while also acknowledging the work that still needs to be done.
Pride is more than just a celebration or parade. It’s a feeling of love, acceptance, and affirmation for those who have historically been marginalized and discriminated against because of their sexual orientation or gender identity. It’s about standing up for what’s right and advocating for equality and justice for all.
Pride is about building an inclusive society where everyone can feel free to express who they are without fear of persecution. It’s about recognizing and embracing diversity and understanding that our differences make us stronger. We all deserve equal rights, regardless of our sexual orientation or gender identity.
Pride is also a time to reflect on how far we’ve come in the fight for LGBTQ+ rights. From the Stonewall Uprising to the legalization of same-sex marriage to the recent Supreme Court ruling protecting LGBTQ+ workers from discrimination, we’ve made significant progress
