It was Vazquez who would ultimately prove to be the hero for the US team. In the 88th minute, he got on the end of a cross from Jesus Ferreira to score the equalizer and salvage a point for his team.
While a draw was certainly not the result the US team had been hoping for, it was perhaps a fair result given their overall performance on the night. They will need to improve if they hope to progress deep into the tournament and challenge for the Concacaf Gold Cup title.
