Canon Fodder: Parasite’s Cake

Welcome back to ye ol’ Canon Fodder in 2026, a year of rather significant proportions as Halo will be celebrating its twenty-fifth anniversary. A whole quarter of a century—our very own and very first quadranscentennial! Indeed, it has already been over a decade since we began this column with an eye towards making the universe of Halo that much richer for its passionate fans.

The Cake is not a Lie

One thing that certainly is no lie is our gratitude for all the Halo community has done to help make the universe that much richer and more enjoyable. One thing that certainly isn’t a lie is our gratitude for all the Halo community has done to help make the universe that much richer and more enjoyable. This all begins with a little game I like to call “The Halo Timeline Game.” As with many of the games I introduce, I like to start with a little bit of backstory before we dive into the actual game itself.

One interesting aspect of the game is that it can be played by different members of the Halo community at different times. One person might be playing in 2525, while another might be playing in 2552. The point is, this timeline is meant to be a fun way to learn about the various events and characters that have shaped the Halo universe over the years.

Parasite’s Potential

One thing I’ve been thinking about lately is the potential for the Parasite to become a significant threat in the Halo universe. We’ve seen glimpses of the Flood in previous games, but they have never been fully explored as a major antagonist. In my opinion, the Parasite has the potential to be one of the most fearsome and insidious foes the Master Chief has ever faced.

Imagine a scenario where a new form of the Flood emerges, more powerful and cunning than ever before. This would force the UNSC to confront a threat unlike anything they have ever seen, pushing them to their limits and testing their resolve. I believe that introducing a new form of the Parasite could inject new life into the Halo series and provide a fresh challenge for players to overcome.

A Halo Waypoint Forward

Speaking of new challenges, I want to take a moment to talk about Halo Waypoint and its role in the Halo community. Waypoint has been a hub of information and discussion for fans of the series, providing updates on the latest news, lore, and gameplay. I believe that going forward, Halo Waypoint could continue to evolve and expand, providing even more content and features for fans to enjoy.

One idea I have is for Waypoint to introduce more interactive elements, such as quizzes, polls, and contests. This would not only engage the community in new and exciting ways but also help to deepen their understanding and appreciation of the Halo universe. By fostering a sense of community and camaraderie, Waypoint can continue to be a vital resource for all Halo fans.

Beyond the Stars

Looking to the future, I can’t help but wonder what lies beyond the stars for Halo. With the upcoming 25th-anniversary celebration, now is the perfect time to reflect on the past, present, and future of this beloved franchise. Whether it’s new games, books, comics, or other media, the Halo universe is rich with storytelling potential that is just waiting to be explored.

One possibility I find particularly intriguing is the idea of expanding the Halo universe into new genres and mediums. Imagine a Halo television series that delves deep into the lore and characters of the universe, or a series of graphic novels that explore untold stories from the frontlines of the war against the Covenant. The possibilities are endless, and I can’t wait to see where the Halo universe goes next.
